My adult son (18) has been put on Seroquel to help him sleep. He took it for the first time the night before last and slept almost all day. He's on the Adderall (sp) patch. I'm not happy with his being put on Seroquel just to help him sleep, since it's really an anti-psychotic, with all the risks of those drugs.
Anybody else have suggestions about what else he can do and take? He's starting college in August and he needs to get his sleep squared away. Thanks! |

Payne1,
I am on seroquel as well and I too slept a lot the first time that I took seroquel. The first time you take any medication you can have a huge reaction to it. I take half of what I started with because 100mg made me drowsy. I would give it time and let it get in his system. It can take weeks before the medication fully works. If you feel that it too much and he is too sleepy go back to your doctor and lower the dosage. Best of Luck, Crazyman28 |

I too, take seroquel, and as I am very sensitive to medications, I take only 12.5 mg nightly, about an hour before I want to go to sleep. They don't have a pill that small, so I take 1/2 of the 25mg pill.
I suggest lowering the dose and finding one that works well enough so that your son can sleep, but not turn him into a sleeping zombie!
