HI,

Have you asked your Dr. why she is doing this?

daytona9, I am on ADD med too. I have a psychiatrist who prescribes it to me. Some family docs don't know enough about psych meds to understand how they work. Have you considered seeing a psychiatrist?

I would suggest seeing a psychiatrist also. There's a huge misconception that ADHD/ADD is "outgrown" so maybe that's why she's doing this. It's miserable having ADHD and not being medicated. If you can't get into a psychiatrist, at least get a second opinion, or more importantly, ask her about her decision. Is there another medication she feels is better?

I understand your frustration. I too have had my Dr take me off the medication that has truly changed my life, shortly after stopping my adderall I am back in the same boat I was in prior to starting it. My Dr explains the medicastion is unsafe for my heart even though my heart has no issues what so ever, my B/P is 110/64 nearly each visit, I have no mur-mur or side effects at all. In the meantime, my ADD has taken over....cannot concentrate, read, enjoy finishing a task, etc...the list goes on
Maybe ask your Dr. to switch medications instead?

30 x 3? Really? I'm taking 20 x 1 (of the generic adderall) ...and I don't feel like I've changed that much...maybe I should ask to up the dose?

My Dr. put me on Adderall but it was reluctantly. He is a GP and he has asked me to see a psychiatrist to manage my meds. I think maybe some docs would rather refer to a specialist as adhd/add is such a complex thing. Maybe your Dr. would be willing to explain their thinking to you?
