My first experience with this drug was when I had decided to pop a friend's 50mg Vyvanse in order to "check it out". The pill worked like magic. Heightened focus and a "calm" feeling unlike anything I had ever felt before. I persisted to take these 50mg Vyvanse pills for the next seven days, suffering no ill side effects other than a decrease in appetite and an increase in heart rate. After said seven days, I did not take another one until about a month later. Strangely enough, while coming off of the 50mg Vyvanse, I received muscles spasms throughout my body (they weren't painful). I just wanted someone to clarify why this would happen? I'd also like to share the fact that I was under the influence of marijuana simultaneously with the drug so perhaps that's why the muscle spasms occurred?

Anyways, I was prescribed Vyvanse 20mg pills about two months ago. They worked for perhaps the first hour of the first time I popped one then after that, nothing. I continued to take this medication as prescribed for about 2 weeks. Still no effects. Then I decided to hell with it, I'm doubling the dosage. The first time I did this I received mild effects, for perhaps a duration of 4 hours, then nothing. Even now, still on 40mg of Vyvanse, I feel no effects. I don't dare to increase to 60mg but I'm curious as to why the drug seems not to work at all even when 50mg of the same drug worked wonders for me a few months ago. Does tolerance build up that fast? I also took a 20mg Adderall perhaps a month ago and that seemed to work fairly well. I'm also taking Citalopram 20mg and Depakote 500mg, one of each a day, on top of two 20mg Vyvanse pills.

Have you been back to your prescriber since you started on the Vyvanse? I think you will want to share what's going on so he/she can adjust the dose.

I take Vyvanse and have not had any muscle spasms when I do or don't take it. I never feel any effects of Vyvanse during the first hour after I take it. I don't think tolerance builds up quickly on Vyvanse. I have not experienced tolerance and I've been taking it for several years. You just may not have reached what is a therapeutic dose for you yet. It is not unusual for a prescriber to begin at a low dose, monitor symptom response and increase as needed to find what works for you. Reaching the right dose depends on good communication between you and your prescriber--perhaps your office visits will be more frequent until you get the right dose sorted out.

No, unfortunately due to scheduling conflicts, I have not seen my psychiatrist in about two months. I'm pretty sure the muscle spasms only occurred as a result of the simultaneous use of both Vyvanse 50mg and marijuana. I still find it strange that the muscle spasms occurred after twelve hours had elapsed and the effects of the drug were basically gone however I don't believe this is an issue of particular concern. More than likely the same incident will not happen again.

Sorry, I meant the effects of the Vyvanse only worked for the first hour after popping it after an hour had elapsed, meaning it didn't kick in until an hour later as it should. But once I felt the effects, they quickly faded within the hour, diminishing to nothing. At the moment, I am not honestly too concerned with the matter, I am actually surprisingly doing fine without the medication however I do hope to reach an adequate dosage in the future.

On a side note, is taking two twenty milligram Vyvanse's as effective as taking one fourty milligram Vyvanse?
