It seems that at some point it would no longer be safe. Then again, I have read articles that it is safe at therapeutic doses on the cardiovascular system which seems would be the only place of concern as one reaches their golden years.

This is something I would discuss with your pdoc and GP. It depends on your personal health, blood pressure, cardiovascular risk profile, etc.
