Hi there, I'm looking for a short term fix to control my adhd. I have a difficult time getting my medication due to high demand in my area, and the last one I was on got discontinued for some reason, so I am stuck without any meds at all. I'll get in to discuss the issue with the doctor soon but I have 16 pages of papers to write that's due by Tuesday and I've sat down to do them every day for the past three days and all I've managed to come up with is two paragraphs total before being distracted for hours on end... any suggestions so that I might be able to get these papers done?

omg you poor thing!! ok, so somehow you have to make this happen. can you try writing standing up? turning on music? eat some candy while you work? write a paragraph, set a timer to go space off, then come back and do another paragraph? good luck Dreamscaper!!

Get up and do 5 jumping jacks about every 20 minutes. exercise really wakes the brain up with a release of dopamine. Coffee or any caffeine can help of course. Omega3 Fatty Acid suppliments are recommended. Good luck
Thanks for this!

...yeah I would agree with the exercise as helping. if I do some push-ups and go for a bike ride or a brisk walk I seem to get better missile lock on the target for a while at least and keep sugar levels up. I also like that idea of the 'space out' timer I intend to try that because it's tricky to discipline our poor minds...I am permanently off adhd medication.

something else I have used before is a dictaphone...take it for a walk somewhere and record thoughts as they come to you talk into it...night time seemed to work best for me cos there is less to look at.

...then write up or type up when you get home what you said, edit it or whatever.

good luck
