Hi,

New to this forum. New to ADHD. My 9 year old daughter was dx'd last week.

She is on Ritalin LA so we get 8 hours, but by homework time...

Would it be reasonable to ask doc for a booster of short acting?

So far no side effects. I forgot to give it to her yesterday morning. She said there was definitely a difference, so it is working. Will likely up the dose next week.

Thanks.

It is common with stimulants to add a booster in the afternoon. The general rule of thumb is full dose in the morning, and half of that in the afternoon as it begins to wear off. I would talk to the dr about it...

Thank you. This is so new to me. I don't really know what's common practice. I did read about the booster dose somewhere else and wanted to check if it sounded reasonable before asking the doctor. I'll be talking to the doctor frequently and will be getting my girl into therapy. I appreciate your insight and I'm sure I'll have many more questions as time goes on. Thanks
