Alas, only a professional can diagnose ADD. We do have some folks from the UK here, so perhaps they will post on this thread.

My thinking is since you have only developed this problem recently, it can be caused by depression. It sounds like you need more aggressive treatment and evaluation. Do you have access to a psychiatrist? And I definitely recommend therapy, too.
Thanks for this!

Depression and ADD can resemble each other. They have many of the same symptoms. However, untreated ADD can cause depression, because all the ADD symptoms interfere with your life.

I think you need to see a psychiatrist. Most GPs are not trained to understand much more than "general, simple" depression, so they may not be able to really diagnosis the differences between depression and ADD.

Since you are in the UK, you need to get your GP to give you a referral to a psychiatrist. You have to ask and stress what you have said here. If it is urgent, tell your GP. If your GP won't give you a referral, goto another. Perhaps the GP can try an antidepressant while you wait for the psych. The other option is "private" but really expensive.

Good luck.
Thanks for this!
