Hi folks. I have a question. Maybe a couple.
Does anyone here take Wellbutrin AND Concerta? As well, any tales from Concerta users on sleep issues/headaches would be appreciated. Are these temporary from anyones experience? I felt ok until I tried to sleep. Maybe my second 150mg wellbutrin is too much? I'm told there are stimulant qualities to that as well. Trying to sleep, I was as jangled as hell. Really felt like crap...anyway only 3 rough hours sleep after that finally subsided and I'm a little worried. Does Concerta take some adjusting to? Are certain side effects minimalized as the body gets used to it? Thanks |

I'm on Wellbutrin for depression. But I take 300mg in the morning. It has stimulant properties, as does Concerta, and if you take them too late, you won't be able to sleep

I have not heard too many good reports about Concert from people I know, but that doesn't mean much. Have you tried other ADD meds? I've had really good results with Adderall and my daughter has done well on Vyvanse. It is not always easy finding the right medication and dosage, because they affect people differently.
As soon as I started on the Adderall, I did not need my anti-depressant any longer, but I wasn't depressed, I had undiagnosed ADD. I hope you find the right combination for you ![]() YYZ |

I've been prone to migraine auras and 98% of the headaches that follow are nagging low level ones that I don't bother to take anything for. They are a little unpleasant though and can last for a couple of days. The 2% are very rare but are killers...6 hours of hell on earth. Wow. Glad there aren't many of those. They're too few to be concerned about for now.
A few yrs ago I tried Concerta and what with the already existing aura-migraine thing it just made them more frequent. I stopped the Concerta after a week or so. I found out after that, that I had developed a sensitivity to certain foods in the past 10 yrs or so and the chemical tyramine [found in some foods and a known migraine trigger] was responsible for my headaches. That and high blood pressure combined may have made the Concerta attempt impossible. My Doc gave me a choice of things to try in the ADD stimulant range. Why I picked Concerta again I don't know. I wasn't going to. But my diet has been adjusted for a long time now and my BP is under control with meds. I'm crossing my fingers. I've had visual things going on a few times today that aren't actual migraine auras but feel like they could be related. Not felt this before...new sensation but familiar somehow. Constant tightness in my head, I wonder how my blood pressure is? I'm not freaking out or worrying all over creation like it must sound like. Just writing some things down. I'll give this a go as prescribed unless there's some really intolerable thing going on and I have to go back to the Doc. Crap...I've waited a long time to try this type of med again. Maybe I should have given one of the others a shot first. Why the hell did I say Concerta again?? Oh well...the others will be there if and when this one is ineffective/intolerable etc. I'm a little impatient maybe...haha...it's cool. I'm just a wee bit enthused/mortified by it all after waiting so long with a ton of expectations etc. Let 'er roll...let's see what happens...no worries! Only nagging little doubts...and I'll squash those for now. |

I always have problems sleeping on Concerta regardless of the dose or what time I take it. I have taken it off and on for years and that side effect never went away. I did not take it combined with Welbutrin but would think that would make insomnia even worse. Vyvanse, however, lasts much longer for me but does not give me any problems with sleep. So, I would give it a little time maybe a few more weeks, then move on and try something else. I am really happy with Vyvanse but had to do a lot of work on dosing to get to the right spot. Good luck.

Concerta may be causing the headaches. I know when I was on it, as it was wearing off, I would get serious headaches. I'm on strattera now, which is a 24hr medication, so that doesn't happen

Arghhh....Concerta has so many naysayers...anyone FOR it? Success story anyone? Even in the news lately Concerta is getting the boot. My niece takes it though and has with success for 6 years or so. Blanketety blank blankin' blank!...I need to drop the bias and let this stuff do what it's gonna do. I think I already said words to that effect.
Back to squashing nagging doubts! *grin* |

Hello...I've been having an odd time with the Concerta. I succumbed to a depression on a level I haven't seen in years. Poof. In a day...Crushing.
I have not had any more headaches. My sleep cycle has successfully reversed, strange bouts of lucidity coincide with random yet useful accomplishments. All that but accompanied throughout by a deathgrip depression that bordered on total defeat. It has abated significantly but I've been feeling a little solitary since. I haven't been on here much [PC] and haven't participated. This al began on maybe day 4 or 5 of the med therapy. Just very sad and unable to see good anywhere. News...forget it. I like the news. Not these past few days. The horror of living...I don't know how this is happening. I suspect it's the medication. I decided to check for some info on depression and Concerta. Indeed. The scene fits. 'Depression-like symptoms'. Potential serious side effect, it says in some articles. I can't understand how I felt so good in other ways [sleep successes/level of activity/delegating tasks to self and working on them etc] and yet feel this weight of emotion. That's what it was like actually. Raw emotion. Things I noted around me that were troublesome...Good God if I could have I would have cried. It manifested as a deep sorrow. I was very quiet but the other changes in me were so positive. I don't get it. Nothing in my sphere of experience...nothing I've read concerning depression, followed this template. Well as I said I'm still a little subdued. I continued the med throughout...unsure why...didn't want to take the chance of anything getting worse I guess. I'm keeping my eye on mood and any more shifts. Doc app. in 4 weeks thereabouts...I have the meds here that will bump me from 18mg to 54 in that time. What's going to happen when the doses increase? I'm informing my neighbor to keep an eye on my behavior. If it shifts like that again it's Doc time. This isn't quite right. Can't think any more...sleeping pill. Just wanted to say something. Hello YYZ if you see this. Wish me luck. I'm still positive about continuing. Maybe these are rough spots just starting out. I hope so...I know this isn't natural. And I'm on 300MG of wellbutrin for chrissakes...Have been for several years. Nothing in a major buttkicking drop has been seen since I started them. Until Concerta. A lot of scrawl to endure to get to this query. has anyone experienced depression when using the stimulants? Thankyou for any comments. |

Not sure if you are following this anymore. New to site. I have had GREAT success on Concerta. First and only ADHD med i have had to take. But I knew it was helping pretty quickly. I am at 54mg/ day now for 5 years. It didn't help everything at first, but I did notice small changes as I progressed up the chain of dosage
![]() ![]() I am actually looking about info on Concerta and adding Wellbutrin. I seem to be a bit depressed lately and and coming around to the fact that I may need help with it. Concerta has been the only prescription drug I have ever taken other than antibiotics... Anyhow, hope it all worked out. |

Hi everyone.
I'm 56 years old, and I've had ADHD since I was a child. I resisted taking meds for years. I have been taking Concerta, 36 mg. for 11 years and have felt great. I was able to keep up with work and bills. My only complaint was that I always felt inhibited, and lost my creativity, but, there are trade offs, and I started paying bills and bouncing checks. A little anxiety, but no depression. Today I took my first truly generic Concerta ~ different shape, different markings, different manufacturer. After an hour, my upper abdomen felt like someone had kicked me with boots. I was nauseated, and the stomach ache stayed for hours. I also had a flat mood all day. No smiling, no crying, nothing. Tomorrow I will try taking it on a full stomach (never had to do that with the brand name stuff). The pharmacist said that the other form is going to be very hard to find, and that my insurance won't pay for it. I have 17 more of these new pills, and I will try for a few days to see if I get used to it. Has anyone else seen these new generic concerta? They look like acetaminophen tabs with black lettering. Twice the size of the old concerta. |

My 16 year old son takes 108 mg Concerta every morning as well as sertaline and zoloft. He missed Saturday's dose and it was awful. He has gone from almost failing his freshman high school year to all As and Bs this year.

Update: The generic that I got kicked my butt again today. I will NOT take this again!
I think the pharmacy should have given me the choice to have my prescription filled elsewhere, if they didn't have enough for the whole 30 days. They just kind of sneaked it in there and said it should be the same. IT IS NOT! I called around, and other pharmacies have the brand that works for me, but I have a few weeks before my prescription is up again. Does my pharmacy have to replace those pills for me, by law? I am not happy with these people. |
