Here is a post I wrote several months ago, it still applies and I still do this everyday. There are good days and bad days, but, it has never gotten back to the worst days.

1. I have ADD...really really really BAD
2. I have a ok organized home
3. It was very messy and disorganized and cluttered
4. now it is not messy and disorganized and cluttered
5. You are not lazy...you are just lazy and not thinking about solutions
6. You need to be PATIENT, CONSISTENT, NEVER GIVE UP....NEVER...NEVER...GIVE UP...OK? GOT THAT? NEVER GIVE UP.
7. Go to your very messy kitchen and clean ONE counter next to your sink, do the dishes and put them away, remove the trash and wipe the counter. Now you have 1 counter and the sink clean and dishes put away. GO AWAY...STEP AWAY
8. clean another counter...do those dishes, put them away...now you have 2 counters clean.
9. chose another counter or stove top.
10. keep doing 1 counter every night till all counters are clean and dishes are clean
11. wash all dishes on the floor, put dishes away, all dishes
12 clean the floor
13. if you have too many dishes, put them in a box on your front door with a "FOR FREE" sign, post on free cycle ad and let people come to you and take it all away. it is not worth the $20 you will make for a day of HELL having a yard sale.
14. have a freebie party, invite people to your house to take away anything and everything you don't want strangers to have, blah, blah, blah... GET RID OF THE ****....
15. clean your kitchen, do your dishes and pick 3 boxes and find a place for them, throw them away or put them in your FOR FREE box.
16. If you do this every night for 3 months, you will have a good habit. You can take all the ADD pills in the world and you will do nothing if you are not willing to change your behavior. Throw away what you can't give away, give away what you horde, hording is BAD...HORDING IS BAD. ok? got that? find a place, make a space, or get rid of it

Last DON'T TRY TO BE PERFECT, TRY TO BE BETTER THAN TODAY.

Today, I can see my floors, I don't see boxes or bags and I can get a glass of water without having to wash one first. It is that simple, now take your pill and start cleaning your counter.

I gotta say. I remember you posting this the first time. I want to thank you. I remember cleaning out a cupboard. then another. granted I didn't do it every day. But I still made some good steps. I just went down got two trash bags before trash day and cleaned out one or two cupboards. Then I started on the drawers and cleaned those out each day before trash day. Well now I have some cupboards and drawers that are actually somewhat clean. Not perfect but at least they pass for better organized. I finally got the computer out of my room that served no purpose but being a paper weight. So slowly and sure I am making progress. Next will be the closet. I will probably have to write down on a piece of paper a step by step plan for it. Since I have a lot of stuff in there and could easily get lost and overwhelmed. I basically have to pull everything out. Decide what stays and goes. Then after I have decided figure where to take it. My dad has a trip coming up soon so I think that will be the time for me to dive into it and start sorting it out little by little.

Muppy has ADD. A lot of tossing has been done, but some remains still. I love what 2_Free posted. I'm going to copy it to a word document so I can put it where I'll see it every day.

I make a list every day and cross the tasks off as their done dishes laundry vacumming, laundry clean floors. still i wake up to a messy house,it's just not as bad and I hate the floor unvaccummed.I really need to clean off my living room table as there are papers that pile up such as bills, papers etc.. I do my best but i find it not as good as i like

One of my traits. Nothing is ever good enough. But if a table is perfectly spotless for me it will never be good enough still. I will find a way to make it not good enough. Just my weird thinking process. I spend so much time trying to make one thing perfect it if I start on it. Everything else gets lost in the wake and forgotten

aside from the kids and being married I deal with the same issues as you. I struggle with keeping my and my mother's house in a orderly fashion everyday.

and pretty much I get easily distracted and things don't get accomplished in the day..and then I have to hear from my mom that I am lazy. She is fairly understanding to my other disorder but not to my ADD.
