I have actually been diagnosed with ADHD, but I never really thought I had it, the interview was barely an hour, and the psychiatrist prescribed me concerta/ritalin, which I really wanted as my studies were really getting tough, and I do have a hard time focusing. He also said I had social anxiety, but I kind of thought I just wanted to do well in college, so didn't really care.

Although recently the meds have made me feel super paranoid and a little depressed, I really hate taking it, but also I am afraid I wont perform as well. Do any of you experience this?

That is one of the main side effects of ritalin/concerta.

Do not trust your psychiatrist after doing this. Only take stimulants if you really need it because they make your concentration worse over time causing you to be dependent but one does not have to worry if they have severe problems already.

Take the ritalin/concerta every day and the side effects that you are having should be a bit better in around 2 months.

yeah I actually have a chronic prescription,I have been using it almost daily for 1.5 years, but only recently I have felt that it has amplified my other issues, I have also lost weight and thought my prescription was too high of a dose. But my grades at college did really go up, so I am reluctant to not use it. But I am worried that this has done damage already. It's like the psychiatrist almost only was interested in money.

stimulant meds can increase anxiety. I believe that stimulants should be your last resort. Have you talked to your pdoc about a non-stimulant?

No, I don't know if they work as well as stimulants? But I have one more test left to take in like 12 days. I plan on not using the Concerta anymore, but I am afraid I will not be able to perform/concentrate at work.
