Hey ADDFourm, I'm looking for advice on what to do with my problem/senerio... My roommates have been giving me hints basically that I have ADD and today they said it might be a good idea for me to get prescribed.
The reasons that I think I have ADD or they have noticed are. (These are just random things that might be linked to add) 1.messy writing 2. always anxious, can't keep still or wait! If I have to wait for a appointment or something you will probably see me shaking my leg. if I'm waiting in line playing with something even kinda opening up my key (I find myself opening my audi key and taking out battery compartment for no reason) 3. Couldn't focus in school and I'm a C / D student 4. Basically failed to keep even a 1.5 GPA in my first 2 semesters in college due to the fact that I'm not able to focus 5. Im disorganized, my room is literally A MESS! Im embarrassed to even show anyone my room and no matter how hard I try to keep it clean it always becomes messy. 6. I talk really fast, apparently sometimes people can't even understand me. 7. If I start something I move on to something else so quickly and never get the first thing done! 8. if I read sentences I will skip words or read it wrong 9 Im 20 but look 27+? sucks to be a college student looking so old very week vision… I believe I’m a -9.5 perception This list can probably go on forever... Im basically a entrepreneur, I know how to make money left and right but recently I've found myself being lazy! Im currently a car dealer and have 5 cars all lined up that have just minor 30min jobs each required but I'm trying to do so many things that I can't focus on it and get it done. I think my life is going down and might be because ADD(If I have it), I feel that Im almost incapable of learning. Ive cheated throughout high school and a little through college and haven't learned anything except what interest me Please help or advice! The only think I liked to do is start business and make money, slowly since Im losing interest I'm even failing at that |

It does sound like ADD, I have it. But, of course I'm not a doctor. Have you seen a doctor yet? I would highly recommend it. I found out in college that I had ADHD. I dropped many classes, and struggled even though I got tutoring and would study hard.
Good luck!

Hi! I definitely recommend that you go to the college's counseling service and/or learning lab and tell them what's happening. You need a diagnosis and then some treatment/help. Good luck! ADD does not have to be a GPA buster. Check out some books on it, like the ones mentioned at the top of the forum. You have to learn to work around it.

It could be ADHD, or any of diverse physiological imbalances that mimic ADHD symptoms. As the others have suggested, a good bet is to see a college counselor, who will be able to advise you on how to proceed.
In the meantime, making sure that you have a healthy lifestyle -- adequate sleep, balanced nutrition, exercise, etc. will help. Baby steps. ![]() |

I have ADD. Ever since I was a little kid I have been messy, disorganized, and the only thing that saved me in school was my ability to draw, I was put in every art class my school offered. My inability to focus is a nightmare and that causes many problems. There are different ways to learn, such as visual and that is the category I fall in to. I know there are counselors that specialize in ADD that may be able to give you answers and suggestions. You reached out for help, kudos! |

Go to disability services at your school for SURE. And search online for self-diagnosis quiz (CHADD has a good one i think -- so does PsychCentral). If those things point in direction of ADD, get a professional medical diagnosis.
The list of traits you provided sounds like ADHD to me! |
