Ok first of all, I know it's wrong to abuse prescription drugs. This is the first time I'm doing so and it's out of sheer desperation and stress so please save me the lecture.

So yesterday, I started off by taking 27mg of Ritalin. I didn't feel any effects so two hours later I took a 18mg pill (snorted half, swallowed the other half) and it made me shaky but not focused so I took another 18mg one. So basically I had 63mg of Ritalin in my system yesterday (my first time on the medication) and it took hours for it to work. When it finally took effect, it made me euphoric (better than my Prozac's ever made me feel) and although I still kept getting distracted, it allowed me to study efficiently. It was great.

Today, I took two 18mg pills (so a total of 36mg) so far and nothing's taken effect. I don't have the same effects as yesterday and I have no desire to start studying.

Does anyone know why the Ritalin is having no effects on me even though I've taken such high dosages? (I've never even been on that high a dosage for my Prozac)

maybe you are building a tolerance for the stimulant.

But yesterday was my first time on them. I've never taken them before :/ Don't people usually start off with 10mg on Ritalin? I had 63mg!

What you're doing is dangerous. Stop now. You can induce psychosis.
Thanks for this!

I can't! My exam is tomorrow! I do feel a bit off and I know it's risky since I have Prozac, Ritalin, melatonin, and Tylenol all in my system right now. Will it be better if I skipped my Prozac tonight? I probably won't be taking melatonin either.

stimulants made me psychotic. its a possibility that it could happen to u. i think the problem is u are trying to get high off ur ritalin instead of taking a therapeutic dose to help u focus. taking that much of a stimulant can also wear ur heart out and raise ur blood pressure. i dont think u should even be prescribed this because u are abusing it

Take Adderall if you want motivation. Don't snort it so much you'll get a nose bleed

18mg is generally a dose for Concerta, or its generic formulation. Concerta is a very special time released product designed to have biophasic release which is accomplished via an osmotic pump designed into the capsule. this is not a product to tamper with by crushing, snorting, or any other method that compromises the capsule integrity.

also, in order for methylphenidate to work you need to be producing the neurotransmitters that re uptake inhibitors act on - nutritional status can come into play. be sure you have a diet that provides appropriate precursors.

if this is not 100% clear you need to work with a skilled M.D. o r PharmD - not all of whom are knowledgeable in this area of pharmacology.
