I had been dealing with schizoaffective disorder depressive type for nearly 3 years before I was diagnosed with adult onset ADHD. When I was given the diagnosis I thought, "No big deal, this is nothing like psychotic depression."
Soon after my diagnosis school took a turn for the worse. I had been a straight 'A' student my entire life and then, as if with the flick of a switch, I started failing all my classes. I couldn't focus, I couldn't do homework, and I could barely read a paragraph and comprehend it. The worst part of it came when the stress of my sudden failure of my full college schedule hit me. It hit hard. Stress is the last thing someone with Schizoaffective should endure. It triggered everything from the voices to the suicidal thoughts. I ended up taking a medical withdrawal. I said goodbye to my college friends and good bye to college, I haven't turned back since. I don't know if I will ever be able to endure the stress of taking school with ADHD and enduring the consequences of Schizoaffective again.

I'm so sorry this happened. Have you now been finding ways to work around your problem? Maybe you can get some ideas here.

I have taken two specific courses of action since this happened. I have worked on getting my medications right so that I can still function at work. And second I have put school on the side for an undetermined amount of time.
