Anyone here prescribed this amount? Is it effective for you?

I take 40-60 mg a day and it works for me. I take 20mg tablets 2-3 times a day. I've found it very helpful.

Thank you. I've recently been taking 40mgXR [extended release] and seem to be up against a brick wall. Initially 20mg used to have me doing well so I asked to try 30.

30 seemed too much so I stopped altogether for some time. 8 months or so. Upon starting again I have needed a larger dose and my doc says we're getting close to the recommended maximum.

To be truthful I've not been on these for long I suppose. 14 months or so counting the 8 month hiatus. I've tried Concerta Vyvase AND Strattera trying to find the one most tolerable. Adderall seemed to work...now not so much if at all.

I HAVE been having a prolonged bout of depression that I'm not easily shaking. Perhaps WITHOUT the Adderall things would be worse??? I don't want and am not looking for, another increase. This stuff should be working. I asked my pharmacy if it's the same brand as last years and they said yes. Sometimes apparently, a brand change can affect efficacy.

Thanks for your info. I may ask for a broken regimen and get away from the XR. I have a few more questions for my doc it appears. Poor feller.

Do you ever take Aderall Immediate Release (IR)? I take 20 mg XR and 40 mg IR and that works the best for me. Sometimes I'll forget the xr in the morning and only take the shorter acting dose. Either way I find either a combo of XR/IR or the IR alone to be more effective than the XR alone. I think it does also have an antidepressant effect, but then a bit of a crash after. Not as bad as with Ritalin, but I can feel it sometimes. Maybe that is it? Perhaps asking your doctor about combing the versions will give you more options. Then you can control the timing of your doses a little more. Good luck!

I take 10 mg 2x a day and 40 mg 1x a day of Prozac for depression. I am scared to take anymore. The pharmacists look at you like you are a criminal when they fill the prescription. I did notice that Walmart changed from teh blue Adderal (generic form) to a smaller harder white pill. They said the manufacturers change often and they went away from the blue pill because it made it harder to sell on the black market. What did your doctor say the max was?

I've been told the max dose is 60mg/day although I've heard of people who take more. The generic does change and I will ask the pharmacist for specific ones since I've noticed a difference if effectiveness.
