I heard of people outgrowing it but if they have ADHD I don't see how that would be possible just because they grow up...wouldn't that just be a NT child then?
I know it seems more common in children than adults but possibly that's just the generation it was discovered? |

They don't, which is why there is adult ADD now. Some people develop good coping skills. I don't think people stop being ADD when they turn 18.

I outgrew my hyperactivity but not the attention-deficiency.

No you don't out grow it. My husband was diagnosed with ADHD when he was a child. his parents were told that he would out grow it so as he got older they paid less and less attention to his ADHD. At the age of 27 he was re-diagnosed and put back on meds.
I personally belive that if his treatment wasn't stopped in his teens he would be in a much better place right now. He would know how to cope and deal with his ADHD much better. |

I outgrew my hyperactivity (only have mental hyperactivity sometimes). And developed some coping skills. I'm sure it would have been much better if it was taken more seriously. It was thought that after I got over the heavy symptoms the problem was over, so after my teens it was forgotten.
