I take 20mg of Ritalin at 9 in the morning and again at 1:30 in the afternoon. I am told the drug is effective for 4-5 hours. Does that mean the Ritalin I took during the day has no benefit later (in the evening)?

Thanks

So far Ritalin has no effect. Hoping a higher dose works.
Wasted 5 months trying Strattera. Nice side effects and no effect either..

i dont know for certain, but i would think there is some benefit. there are all kinds of factors in play with meds in the system. they have half lifes and such that they are there, just not as effective. so you probably get the most benefit in that four hour window, but i would bet it is still in your system in the evening, just not the major boost you had in the beginning. dont quote me on it though.

Pretty much. It's half life is 3.5 hours, it's duration of action is 3-5 hours. Your 130 dose is pretty much done by 6 or so. Some people have to take Ritalin three times a day.
