Now that my depression finally seems to get a bit less I started taking adhd meds again. I didnt wanna take them because the depression masked the adhd symptoms so it didnt make sense to take them. Plus that a side effect could be worsening depression.

Im on bupropion (wellbutrin) 150mg xr (extended release) daily. now i take 40mg dextroamphetaminein 2 doses plus methylphenidate (ritalin) 30mg in 2 doses. I dont take it late in the afternoon because first I dont need it but also due to insomnia. So I take the bupropion, plus dextroamphetamin and methyphenidate at 7:30am and dextroamphetamin and methyphenidate at 1pm.

My depression was an agitated one and I was very stressed. Might be that things in life went out of control and because of my concentration problems I couldt regain control other than working harder and harder, even more multitasking. Resulting in extreme burnout/depression (among other factors).

It seems that those medications slow me down a bit, I move a bit more quiet, I multitask less and if I do, I notice it earlier so I can slow myself down.

I can concentrate a bit better. Still not like when Im not depressed and even then not very good. I dropped out of school at a young age and started university when I was an adult. My results were good but it cost me an enormous amount of energy to stay focussed. I can focus, it just cost me a lot of energy. And that is still a problem but it could also be that the remains of my depression still has a huge effect on concentration. And what is still there is a huge brainfog. Just sometimes, late in the evening, it gets a bit less.

I thougt those meds would tackle the brainfog too but so far they dont. Especially the dextroamphetamin and methyphenidate should work immediately, doesnt it?

And this mix of meds, might it be a bit too much (in a desperate attempt to get rid of the symptoms of my ADD)? My weight is about 190 lbs

Even with this cocktail I'm tired and exhausted. Sometimes I have the impression that I am more tired with ritalin than without. Is that a side effect?

Dx: Mix anhedonia with Bipolar II. Add some insomnia and chronic stress. Season with paroxetine and a pinch of ADD. Stir well to induce a couple of hypo/manic episodes. After the excess of energy is gone, remove the Paroxetine and serve chilled with some C-PTSD and GAD. Ready is your MDD.

Mx: To clean up the mess use lamotrigine, r
isperidon, mirtazapine and sertraline. Let it soak in for a while but keep a close eye on it. Meanwhile enjoy your desert of oxazepam/temazepam prn.

Just talked to my pdoc. she says that wellbutrin and dexamphetamine should not be combined since they work on the same neurotransmitters noradrenaline and dopamine.

Not anymore. The dosage was total. so 2x40 plus 2x30. pdoc says the wellbutrin works the same and should help with add as well.

Like i said, not anymore. And to me they are not stimulant. I get tired and sleepy somehow. The same with wellbutrin. From lexapro i get extremely restless but wellbutrin makes me calm. Not very calm but at least not the aweful effect ssri has on me.
If you dont have adhd they dont prescribe it to you. They seem to have a stimulant effect on people without adhd.

I see your dx amongst others is adhd. Then you should be prescribed one of those stimulants and at least give it a try. It doesnt work for all adhd-ers. I get very tired from them, maybe a bit more focussed and not multitasking, but the drowsiness from those meds is worse than my adhd.
What does your pdoc say about it?
