I have and I'm sure many others do. I'll assume majority of drug test are for employment reasons. Employers usually test for THC, Opiates, Alcohol and yes stimulants, however, when you take a drug test the person administering the test (usually an outside clinic) will ask if you are taking any prescription medication since many do contain substances that are also found in illegal drugs. You will probably be asked to show proof of a prescription. I have never had an issue. The more drugs the employer wants screened the more expensive it gets. Many prescription pain killers, tylenhol w/codine, are opiate based. So if you come up positive for something and you have a legitimate prescription then you shouldn't have a problem.

my pdoc told me that in order for them to prescribe a stimulant to me i have to sign a piece of paper stating that i will not drink alcohol or use other drugs and submit to drug tests
just to get the prescription stimulant, thats not counting the employers drug screens??

i was just wondering if you all have to submit to such rules too?

I have never heard of a doctor doing this. He can warn you about the effects of mixing alcohol or other drugs, legal or illegal. But to have you sign a document? never heard of it unless you have had issues with drugs and alcohol before. And to have you submit to a drug test? that to me sounds unprofessional and unethical. If you are ADD, stimulants prescribed for ADD have a different effect than if the person was not ADD. I think you should start shopping for a new doctor. I do know that most doctors may want to take your heart rate before writing a prescription. If you have high blood pressure, under a lot of stress, tense he may hold off until your numbers drop a little. I go every couple of months to see my doctor, chat for 15-20 minutes before he writes out a scrip. I don't drink or do other drugs, I have on occasions will smoke a little pot, he knows that, it does relax me but that is even rare nowadays. Unless you have had issues in the past with addiction then I don't understand why your doctor would require you to submit to a drug test. You do list other meds, so I'm wondering if he is concerned about doing something illegal that may cause a bad reaction. There are some non-stimulant ADD med's available like Stratera (didn't so squat for me) that you may want to try.

i was diagnosed with substance use disorder because i smoke pot ... (and drink alcohol occasionally)
the clinic i go to is a community service clinic so maybe they have stricter rules than seeing a private practice ?

Yes, I have to take drug test to get refills for controlled substances here in Florida. For vyvanse, clonazepam, and temazepam. They check to see if you're on any illegal drugs. They also check to make sure the controlled substances prescribed are in you're system. Otherwise they assume you're either abusing or selling the drug(s). Standard procedure here. Yes I had to sign a document.

I've been drug tested for employment, and didn't get any verification calls or problems over my Ritalin.

With employment drug tests I just tell the people taking the test what prescriptions I'm on and they verify this because benzodiazepines (clonazepam, temazepam) and amphetamines (vyvanse) show up. Same for probation UAs. It's never been a problem. I've had more of a problem getting them from my Dr.
