Does anyone here have both bipolar disorder and ADHD? If so, what medications have worked for you guys? I am on Vyvanse for ADHD, and Latuda for bipolar disorder, but do not think I feel the full benefits of either.

I have bipolar 1 and ADHD. The meds that I've been on for years for my bipolar is lamictal and risperidone. They have worked really good at controlling my moods. I just got officially diagnosed with ADHD and the one that seems to work for the most part is adderal. I do think I need to up the dose on that though.
If you don't feel like either one is working then you should definitely talk to your doctor and see if you can get on a different pill regiment. There's no point in taking meds that don't work.

I have both. I'm on 1500mg of lithium, 60mg of Cymbalta, 15mg of Zyprexa, 25mg Seroquel PRN, and 10mg of Ritalin. The Ritalin worked at first but I quickly became used to it and I doubt my pdoc would up the dose. Pdocs are very hesitant about prescribing stimulants for bipolar patients since they can make you manic. We've been working on getting the right cocktail for awhile. I love the lithium as a mood stabilizer but I would recommend Zyprexa only in acute situations or as a last resort. I gained 35 pounds in a very short amount of time during back-to-back hospital stays.
I think you should ask your pdoc to adjust your dosage for both meds. You can ask what the other options are besides Latuda, but just know you'll probably have to deal with side effects if you switch. |

I am ADD and bipolar 2. I am currently taking adderall, prozac, topimax for moods and ativan as needed for anxiety.
None of the anti-psyc drugs worked for me. I gained 35 pounds on abilify, latuda made me lactate and risperdal didn't help. All these meds have side effects but I cannot live without any, as I have tried. |

I don't officially have a bipolar diagnosis, but I am suspected to have some sort of mood disregulation something. I'm on Focalin XR for diagnosed ADHD and I'm on Lamictal for the moods. I also used to be on Abilify but my pdoc didn't want me on that for an extended period of time.
If you meds don't seem to feel fully effective, I would bring it up with your pdoc. My pdoc told me that some meds can interfere with the others and make the dosage less effective.
