Hi everyone,
I'm a woman in my mid twenties and I just got diagnosed with ADHD inattentive subtype today, I have no idea why it took so long for someone to realize (I've been seeing mental health professionals since I was 8) but hey, we got there in the end. I'm on dexamphetamine, instructed to start at 5mg 2x a day, then 3x a day, then if needed take 2 in the morning at once etc. I took one at lunchtime today, which is the first time I've taken it, and it was really great. I didn't feel tense or anxious like I usually do and I was able to do some light cleaning cos I was able to organize myself mentally. I'm really excited about this treatment going well and my family is helping me pay for the psychiatrist (i've never been able to keep steady employment and after my teens I just went totally non-functional) and yeah it's all pretty cool. Idk what my point is here, just wondering what to expect from here, wondering if other ppl especially women are late diagnosed here too, also is there anything I can do besides medication to manage it? thanks for reading, have a great day

Hi Oliveaux, I am new here too and am going to be talking with a therapist soon as I think I might have add- if you don't mind me asking what were your symptoms? I only recently thought about getting evaluated, I've been on anti-depressants for the majority of my adult life since early 20s and have read a lot recently about people being diagnosed with depression and it turns out it's add. I'm a 35 yo female btw.
