I'm trying to learn here. My 10yo son has ADHD. Is early waking a common thing with ADHD? I've always noticed at a few times a year he will go through several days in a row where he wakes up in the middle of the night and just stays up. He's done this 3 of the last 4 days where he has gotten up between 2 and 4am. Are there things that can help?

He falls asleep ok and at a good bedtime. It's very concerning to me. I'm afraid about his ability to function at school on less sleep. I try to get him to get him to go back to sleep, but it almost never works.

It's also kicking my butt because I end up being up with him. I'm bipolar, so the shortage of sleep is not good Sleep Issues

I don't know if it's normal for ADHD, but it's normal for a 10 year old.

He's on the cusp of being an adolescent, and once their hormones start to quick in, he will naturally need less sleep during the night and feel more sleepier during the day, because they start to need less sleep.

I wonder if he could do with going to bed slightly later and see if that will help.
