Get Driven to Distraction today. It has been out for quite a while but is one of the best introductions you'll find about ADHD. It is written by two doctors (one who has ADHD) that are very active in the field. There is a general explanation of ADHD, both adult and child: what it is, how it affects you and others, medications and many life stories that may have you crying as you see yourself in their stories.

Please be aware of the " I'm going to get to that" syndrome we with ADHD fall into and go right out and grab it.

i love lynn weiss...she has a lot of books...my two favorites are:
a.d.d. and creativity...excellent for anyone who is highly creative or highly
sensitive or both....
i think the other is a.d.d. and success (a different story each chapter
about people who are a.d.d. and have found ways to use their a.d.d.
gifts in ways that work for them and have found ways that are comfort-
able for them to be in the world...
i just found my favorite a.d.d. book so far...i don't have it with me but i
think its "all dogs are a.d.d...
each page has a great photo of a dog doing something and a one liner
that characterizes an a.d.d.er...i love it...it is very affirming and re-
minds me of a lot of the things i do are because i'm a.d.d. and to feel
good about myself and accept the ways i feel at times...
HIGHLY RECCOMEND IT!!! i think its pretty new....

With a background i science research - and as biology teacher I like to keep updated, peeking daily at http://www.sciencedaily.com/. My area was neurophysiology, and for ADH updates http://jad.sagepub.com/ is a place to see what research is going on. It is all right to have access only to abstract. There is no time for more.

I've been dignoised for 2+ years. I searched the internet for sites and really didn't find any until I found BPHope Magazine. I was still searching and I came upon your site. I read your newsletter and felt at ease with your site. I related to most everything I was reading so now you are at the top of my list and have been for a while. I don't post much but I enjoy reading the posts and newsletter.

i have been diagnosed for fourteen years, the diagnosis was a relief, but even w/meds, therapy & educating myself, I find everyday life a major struggle. Especially impulse control & relationships of every kind. I have issues with trust & abandonment, also suffer from ptsd, anxiety, & major depressive disorder. I'm very lonely but afraid to let anyone too close. I spend the majority of my time alone & lonely

The problem I have with books is I usually start at the end...(am I the only one??)

CHADD is good (if they have meetings in your area) I want to get the book(s) by Thom Hartmann... heard nothing but good things about them!

[quote=Graham77;534149]This is my site. The posts are slow to come because I do a lot of research, and I also collect resources (on the right side of the blog) I would love feedback. I am going to post soon on it about some of the different drugs out there (just from a layman's perspective).
let me know what you think! (sorry in advance for the problems with the images on the site. I'm working on it.)

In respect of you doing your research, I have raised a family of 8 children
several with adhd, it is my belife because of the lack of understanding in this field many go on to have mental health issues,

Hi, I'm new to this forum, Great resources here. Much appreciated!

Totallyadd.com is another site that could be of interest. Meant to suit the needs of the adult ADDer with a simplified, more humorous format however the articles and info are just as serious. Anyone familiar with the PBS Red Green show will recognize the fellow in the intro (he has ADD himself). Hope you enjoy.

cheers, pem

are there any sites for helping students with time management and staying accountable that might happen to be a good fit for a student with ADD, even if it doesn't market itself as ADD support?

I'm kinda skeptical of forums that are just for ADD. I mean, there's only so much usefulness to come out of 1,000 posts debating the difference between Adderall and Vyvanse.

Mostly, I think such forums simply appeal to ADDers who have a tendancy to hyperfocus on certain topics while procrastinating on what they're suppose to be actually working on. : P

Hello DocJohn its nice to meet you. I really like this website

http://www.sound-add-adhd-treatment.com/

This website uses scientific sound therapy techniques to actually address the brainwave imbalances associated with attention deficit hyperactive disorder. There are a lot of music genres to suit everyone needs. Above all there are a lot of free samples of ADHD study music.
