The title of my post is somewhat misleading. Adderall actually does exactly what I need it to. It gives me focus, causes my brain to let go of negative thoughts and gives me a desire to achieve. It also gives me extremely bad migraine headaches. I've tried all kinds of ways to circumvent those: making sure I stay well-hydrated, cutting back on caffeine, exercising, getting good sleep, cutting back on dosage. Nothing stops them, and they are excruciating. I've tried other ADHD meds as well: Ritalin, Straterra, Vyvanse, Concerta and Focalin. Adderall is the only one that gives my brain what it needs, but I can't take it because of the side effects. I could try other meds, but I'm tired of being a medical experiment plus my health insurance's prescription coverage pretty much sucks.

Some people may be able to find ways to live with unmedicated ADHD, but for me I don't know how. Life is a struggle throughout my day everyday, and whatever things I put in place to help with that provide little tidbits of help that I can barely perceive as compared with Adderall.

What's giving you the headache could be the 25% levoamphetamine in the Adderall because it only has 75% dextroamphetamine.

Dexedrine has 100% dextroamphetamine so you could try that.

I'm trying Strattera now. It's been about 2 weeks, and it seems to be helping. And, best of all, no headaches!

Dex used to give me vile migraines and silent migraines. You might have better luck with it but it might also not be so.
