Anyone else just really angry at society for its constant shaming of people who display ADHD type symptoms? I mean, how can it be justifiable to shame people for something they were born with? Basically people who have the traits that society has deemed "desirable" think they are in a higher caste than those who do not and that they deserve a better life simply because of the way they were born. Am I the only who finds this extremely messed up?

I have adult ADD and I haven't felt society shames us, but Education does. I taught for a couple of years after college and felt very stigmatized there.

I also have adult ADHD and I don't use it as a crutch.
Who said society shames us?

Hello,
I'm so glad that you brought this up. I was recently just diagnosed with ADHD . Since the time I was very little about 8 years old & up I have been shamed, verbally abused, called retarded by adults, teachers & the kids I grew up with. I was treated like I was a heinous criminal. I never could understand it because I was such a nice kid, but I was a nice kid going through major trauma but everyone around me simply chose to ignore what I was going through. Had no one to talk to about it either. It was very traumatic for me. I always felt that I would never amount to anything. I definitely felt as though I would end up clogging the criminal justice system. Thank you for posting this b/c this is the first time anyone has brought this subject up.

Calamity,
I exactly comprehend what you went through.
Our experiences are almost the same.
