Anyone else fight the dilemma with taking SSRI's when you have diagnosed ADHD? I am on Zoloft 100 mg and it's AWFUL when trying to focus for college. I've been sitting starting at the wall and going to random websites for 6 hours instead of doing my homework. I've been on Zoloft for like a year (off and on 3 times), but the long-lasting worsening/exacerbation is getting so bad I don't know if I can fight that anymore with college getting busy. It's always really hard when college gets super stressful with the Zoloft at 100, but I've been taking it because I'm also diagnosed with OCD and more specifically, the Zoloft helps with general mood regulation for me and sleeping (while on stimulants). My doctor knows that I have this issue but nobody has any solid answers except take drug holidays from the ADHD meds (which is totally asinine when I have ADHD and a ton of work to do that requires a LOT of focus), decrease the SSRI, switch the SSRI (which really doesn't help as I've tried every single SSRI there is available in the United States), or come off the SSRI/increase the ADHD medicine. I'm baffled and this is a real/true struggle. Also, my testosterone medicine makes me focus even worse yet, so I have to battle a ton of obstacles just to get the simplest things done. I'm going freaking berserk crazy/mad/angry/frustrated/pissed/hopeless/annoyed.

Can you lower the Zoloft dose? For me, Zoloft reduces anxiety which HELPS me focus because it cuts down on anxious thoughts. But too much Zoloft makes me feel zombieish.

Do you have other ADHD coping mechanisms, like exercise or an accountability buddy?

You don't have to take any meds that you don't want to! Just be careful with sudden switching or stopping by meds though.
