My doctor put me back on 40mg of Vyvanse from 50mg because I feel like the 50mg was depleting my dopamine yet 40mg isn't enough and I have to take a 1 hour nap every evening on it. I'm wondering if I should just live with 40mg. He and the pharmacists let me keep the 50mg pills so I can test which one is better.
I took 40mg of Vyvanse this morning instead of 50mg. Took me an hour and a half to get out of bed. Feel less focused but also less "crazy" - If I can put it that way. 50mg yesterday morning gave me depersonalization but not derealization last night when it wore off because my focus was so bad during the crash so I went to bed at 12am to prevent a panic attack from lack of focus. The night before that, I was taking 40mg and tried to play guitar that night (The night before the morning that I took 50mg) and I couldn't focus. When I took the 50mg, I woke up and played guitar for an hour! I also didn't take a nap in the evening.. I don't know which is better. They both have negatives and positives that fulfill each other. 45mg would be perfect but that doesn't exist. I met a student doctor and he was very interested in my dissociative panic attacks (Made worse by psychedelics even though I had positive effects from them in my life and don't regret taking them) and Vyvanse. He said one of his patients was having panic attacks and he couldn't focus so he put him on Vyvanse and it worked (His panic attacks went away). "DPDR disorder produces a disturbing sense of detachment from one's body or surroundings, often as a result of psychological trauma. DPDR shares high diagnostic co-morbidity with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) due to overlap of clinical features such as inattention and lack of cognitive inhibition." My moms friend with bipolar and ADHD zones out all the time, always on her phone in the middle of a conversation and we have to shout her name and catch her attention for her to talk to us. She has ADHD way worse than me. I think she gets depersonalization because she gets panic attacks too and she's usually the one to tell me at the dinner table with everyone because we always talk about mental health. This is why she loves cocaine so much because it helps her. It's not her fault.

I only experienced Vyvanse with my child.
It was a stimulant, so it made her more active A side effect made her violent It removed her appetite. If it's not a stimulant to you, and it isn't working and is making you more tired, then it isn't the right med. Get generic testing done if you can, to find out what would work best for you. __________________ "I know you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant." |

I think it's worthwhile exploring with your provider what you are actually hoping the medication can do. If you're expecting it to give you energy and motivation to get out of bed and start the day, Vyvanse may not be the medication for you. For me I use Vyvanse to help lower my impulsivity, calm my mind, settle my body, and help me stay on task. I still struggle with a lot of the other symptoms.
It could be that Vyvanse isn't the right medication, or that it won't do what you're hoping. Talk with your provider about what your biggest challenges and concerns are, and see if there's a way to target those symptoms with a specific medication. If you have other symptoms like dissociation or mood issues those can definitely degrade the benefit of any medication that your'e on. It's important to actively treat all the things at once if possible. Good luck! |

@sarahsweets I'm gonna ask my doctor this afternoon about it.
I just want 1-2x 5mg a day to take in the afternoon or evening instead of being tempted to take an extra Vyvanse (I don't because then I'll be awake all night). He said before that dexedrine would keep me up at night but I took 50mg Vyvanse in the morning and in the afternoon and still went to bed at night. I noticed that there's a little bit of a crash the higher of a dose of stimulant that I take which makes me have a really nice sleep. What I need refilled is; Atenolol 50mg 60x Vyvanse 50mg 30x Zopiclone 7.5mg 30x Minocycline 100mg 30x Dexedrine 5mg 30-60x (Maybe) I doubt that he'll let me cuz he says that I'm never happy with my meds but yknow how the world and society on social media only focuses on one trend or issue at a time? That's like me with my meds - I can't change everything at once. There's always upgrading that needs to be done slowly one thing at a time. I don't see anything wrong with it.... Then I'll see him next month.. I just really love being focused enough to read or play guitar/piano, etc.. I take the Vyvanse in the morning and go to work or get ready for the day 3-5 days a week and by the time I'm ready to relax, I'm too tired and unfocused to do anything so I wait everything out, surfing the web doing random things until I go to sleep - I give up basically and stop being productive because I can't focus. I'm a type 3/5 enneagram personality like Bill Gates - Just with ADHD.. |

I can totally relate to this part here. After my Vyvanse wears off at the end of the work day I'm essentially useless the rest of the night. I don't want to ask my provider for a booster for fear of being seen med-seeking and risking them taking away the Vyvanse completely.

I went back up to 50mg of Vyvanse for a while this summer and started getting dissociative panic attacks when it wore off.
I admitted myself to the hospital because my mom and sister saw that I was in distress - I had a 5 hour panic attack in the hospital and was given meds that eventually calmed me down. I stayed there for 3 days for an emergency psychiatrist appointment. The emergency psychiatrist put me on 10mg of olanzepine at night which stopped my panic attacks. I haven't had a panic attack since - And that was 3 weeks ago. He lowered the Vyvanse back to 40mg and told me to take it later in the morning (10-11am) instead of at 7-8am when I get up for work. I've been taking the 40mg of Vyvanse every day at 10:30am. He said that once I'm stable, there's no problem about taking a short acting stimulant in the evening. I saw a second psychiatrist (The one that I'll be seeing regularly) and he said the same thing - That it's ok to be on an evening short acting stimulant once I've been stable for a while. I'm not doing well with general coping mechanisms for ADHD right now. I write two things that I have to do every day and it's hard because I have like 100 things that I could be doing. I'm exercising a lot though. Things will be better eventually. I have to be very careful with my current meds and take them as prescribed because it's a balance to keep me stable. They don't want to mess with the meds - Even the Vyvanse because if I have too many panic attacks, I'd need a benzodiazepine 2-3 times a day to stop myself panicking about panicking which is bad. |

I'm on 60mg of the Vyvanse Desoxyn. It seems like the right dose for me. I have to take it really early in the morning though or I can't sleep. I do have lack of focus as the day goes on. Like it is definitely better in the mornings but I just deal with it.

30mg Vyvanse is like a 15mg Dexedrine XR except it's a big stronger and lasts a little longer. I take 30mg of Vyvanse in the morning and 30mg at noon (Sometimes 60 in the morning) and 10mg of Dexedrine IR in the evening. Seems to work very well.
