Anyone out there taking more than 25mg/day of adderall xr? I'm really thinking that there is very little effect on me when I take this dose, but I'm scared to increase it eventhough my doctor said we could go up if needed. I've been taking this dose for years, but I've just started professional school and I feel like i'm falling way behind. I feel like 50mg once a day would be closer to what I need, but I've never heard of anyone taking that much. Last time I got tested my diagnosis was that more or less off the chart. Can anyone relate to this?

I have been on Adderall and/or Adderall XR for 10 years now. My maximum dosage was 60 mg (3 20XRs) daily. My anxiety levels have been up since my son has been in Iraq so doc dosed me down to 2 10's a day. My son is now home and I really need to move back up to 2 20XRs a day. That seems like a good steady dosage for me.

I have been taking Adderall XR 30 mgs for about a month. I have had no problems at all and it seems to keep my energy levels up most days. I was taking 3 10 mg pills of the regular adderall in the am before that but I felt like I could tell when it wore off. It's always hard for me to tell when any psyche medicine works but I think this helps more than the others I have tried. Good luck. Kerry

I didn't know they made a 50 mg adderall xr. I'm on the 30 mg. This works well for me.

However, this time of year I experiment with going off it for a while. Anyone on Adderall...do you experience any problems with sleep (ie weird dreams) when you go off it? I've been off it for the past 3 days and have awaken several times each night very anxious. Not sure if it is related or not.

I take 60mg of Adderall XR in the AM, then 20 mg of regular Adderall at like 1 pm. Seems like alot but I have been on the stuff for a long time so my body has become very used to it.

I take 30mg a day but I recently got prescribed Provigil in the mornings and it boosts the Adderall effect. It makes me feel better.

My husband has been newly diagnosed with ADHD and he's in his 40s. First he had regular Adderall which worked great but wore off quickly. His metabolism is extra fast. I am coping with trying to find the right dosage..basically do the right thing by him.

He is now on Adderall XR which I saw a marked improvement in regulating him. However, this is month 2 with XR at 30mg and he says it's just not doing anything. We don't have insurance and it's VERY expensive and we only have 30 capsules. I don't want him to suffer but when he is off it, he is just a nightmare (no offense to anyone). He gets to be very mean. He ran out of pills for four days and he made me cry at least once a day. The doctor also prescribed Prozac for him which does nothing but make him sleep. So we tried the natural approach to Prozac and got L-Tyrosine and 5HTP which seem to help.

My dilemma is that his sleep isn't always straight sleep. He's an early morning person so he'll go to bed around 7p, then get up around midnight. Well if he takes the XR at midnight, it can only last so long and he's got a bunch of things to do in the day. At times, he'll wake up at 1030/1130 and want his medicine. He'l take it and then crash during the day sometime. I've put him on a schedule to take it at 230a only. He gets upset with me but I'm trying to do the right things. Am I doing the right things???

I'm pretty sure there is no 50mg. My dose is 50mg daily but I take it as two 25mg capsules. I was taking two 20mg but doctor recently increased my dose. It's been working better for me.
