Is anyone here taking Cylert? That is what my doctor put me on yesterday and none of the people I have talked to (I come from a medical family) have heard of it... apparently it is old...

I did a bit of research for ya. My only concern with the medication is the required blood test.

Before taking pemoline (generic for Cylert), you will be required to discuss with your doctor the risks and benefits of this medicine and to sign an informed consent stating that you understand these risks and benefits. Also, your doctor will need to monitor your liver function with blood tests before starting therapy with pemoline, and every two weeks thereafter.

</div></font></blockquote><font class="post"> I forget where I got this from. Cylert??? Not a surprise to me.

Although I am on two meds. that kind of require liver function tests, it is not nearly as often every two weeks.

I will find out where I found that info and pass it on as well.

Remember I too have ADD and can be researching 7 things at once.

The more I read about this drug, the more I wonder why your doctor would have chosen it for you.

I can print or email you sone of the info I find.

I had asked for Strattera since that is what my daughter is taking and she is having VERY good results on it but he had concerns about it... the more I read about Cylert, the more concerns I have about it...

Ask him why he has concerns with Straterra. I switched to it after no help from Adderall. I have had only one side effect that I actually welcome. That would be weird dreams. Never remembered them prior to Straterra.

Just think, at your next appointment you are going to have so much information about ADD and Meds that you will knock your doctor's socks off. The well informed patient tends to be treated differently from one not so informed.

If Straterra works for your daughter, that would be the first med I would try with the Mom. Cylert??? that is if i was a doctor. Cylert??? Cylert???

This is a medicine not much in favor anymore because of rare reports of liver failure. I don't prescribe it unless my patients have failed a bunch of other stuff first.
