My mom and I both think I'm ADD (my lack of concentration in school and terrible procrastination are also indicators) and it's starting to drive me crazy!! Sometimes I just stare out the window and completely zone out and focusing is IMPOSSIBLE. But my mom is a nurse and really doesn't want to put me on meds. Soooo, what do I do? Is there anything I can do? Argh!! So frustrating!!

Get advice from other medical people than your mom. I personally think medication can be a great, helpful thing, but not always for everyone. Explore the issue on your own, as you are beginning to do, and gather information, then try discussing it with your mom again.

I'd ask your mom why she is against medication.
Secondly, I'd like to point out that while medication is a great thing for most with ADHD, therapy is also useful. Therapy and medication combined is a win-win situation. Tell your mother you would like to get assessed whether you go on medication for it or not. You have a right to have your health problems taken care of. I'm concerned that your mother is a nurse and against medication for a medical condition.

Thank you both. Simcha, I have an appointment with a doctor this week to be checked out for ADD. My Mom was more concerned about possible side effects, appearently. Here's hoping on Tuesday!
Thanks for this!

Glad to hear it! Not sure how knowledgeable our mom is about ADD meds. Maybe that's why she is concerned. She doesn't know much about them? They can be so helpful if you do have ADD. Let us know what the doc says. Good luck.
