Ones near me meet in a pub one evening a month (which doesn't interest me). Every few months they have a cinema visit or a 10-pin bowling session or in summer a picnic in a park instead. It all takes a lot of organising. Ages range from 18 to my 50+ so we don't necessarily hit it off. It takes a lot of volunteers, staff from the local autism society and parents (who sometimes retire to another space for the duration), and one or two care staff of individuals, and still gets out of hand sometimes. I liked it more when it was smaller and I was only in my 40s then. We all had a sense of being pioneers and not having something handed us on a plate. I like it best if I can gain handy hints and tips from the others, rather than just "socialise".
