i have extreme social anxiety. but my t said she wants to check and make sure its not autism. just wondering if its routine to check for that.

huh, I have extreme social anxiety as well, yet my t has never brought it up, instead I want to bring it up with him.

I've often wondered if I had some sort of developmental disability like aspbergers or autism but have never been checked for it.

If I do, I suspect I'm high functioning if that's the case though, because I can force myself to intereact with others when I have to even though it causes me much anxiety, panic and dread ...

I think maybe it's natural at the start of therapy for therapists to check.
I already have a diagnosis (not for autism) but my T is aware of it.

I don't think it's strange that your T wants to check you for it.
