Is it reasonable/realistic to self-diagnose on the basis of the AQ test and self knowledge?

Why? or Why not?

It probably gives you a pretty good idea. I didn't take the test on here until after I was diagnosed, but scored a 39, so the test seems pretty accurate. If you want validation though you should see a p.doc about it.

I'm not sure, but I will tell you one thing, even as openminded as I am, I would have never diagnosed myself as bipolar. Only because I didn't want to believe it. I think a pdoc is the best way to go in my opinion.

I think it's a good idea to get it formally done as we can be biased in interpreting ourselves at times (either negatively or positively), and if you see someone professionally about this, and if you are diagnosed, then they can link you in with more avenues of support.
Thanks for this!
