So, a few months ago, I did some research on autism when I had the opportunity to become the caretaker of an autistic child. That didn't pan out, however as I was researching, I started reading about Asperger's and the symptoms all seemed very...familiar. I think it's a very real possibility that I may have Asperger's. It would explain a lot, anyways.
Now that I'm aware though, I don't really know what to do next. I'm only 18, just graduated high school and I'm still living with my parents, who have absolutely no clue there may be something wrong with me. I've never had any formal psychological exam or diagnosis, and my family doesn't have much money. I want to go through the process to receive a diagnosis, but I'm not sure what that entails. I guess what I'm wondering is what the process of a diagnosis entails and how much money would it cost? |

If you have medicaid you can take that route.
I'm honestly not sure though... I do know that there is a test for it. The first test i had when i was 4, gave me the diagnosis of autism(long story short). then a lot of years ago i was tested for aspergers and it was accurate again. ![]() ![]()

Insurance will cover that kind of thing? I'll have to make some calls and try to get this worked out. The sooner I can get the confirmation (or not?) of an official diagnosis, the sooner I'll be able to come to terms with the idea that I'm simply the way I am because I'm hardwired to be that way.
