Hello. I don't know why, but if someone says something sad that happens, I smile at it. It's not that I don't feel sad, but I don't know what to do with my face so I smile. I rarely smile so when someone says something funny, I sometimes laugh or I keep my sad/neutral face. When something sad is said, I just smile. I hate this because I know it's rude, but I can't get myself to frown. It's easier and feels more natural to smile. Does anyone else do this? I presume this is something caused by ASD so. Or it could be social anxiety, not sure. Anyways, thanks for the response When someone tells me something sad, I tend to smile? .

I also have inappropriate facial expressions. I struggle to show empathy to a person who is sad or hurt. I don't smile, but I show no facial expression, so I come across extremely cold and uncaring.

I don't mean to. It just happens. I'm sorry people perceive you that way.
