So I am very nervous about posting in here. I was diagnosed with Autism in June and at 30 years old there isn't much help out there. All my doctors are wanting me to do therapy to help with sensory. I finally found a place here that will do Sensory Integration Therapy with me so I may be able to deal more with things in life. I am just so scared of what to expect since I have been doing things my way for so many years. Has anyone had good experience with this?

Sorry, I cannot answer your question.

What is this therapy and how is it supposed to help?

I had very good results with this . I saw an occupational therapist who usually works with children but helped me a lot. My sensory problems are just about a non issue. Feel free to send me a message if you'd like more details about this

Would love to know more about this myself... at the ot center I attend, one of the OTs trained up... a sensory room was set up... and then she left for another job before any sensory therapy even began -.-

This website was helpful to me Sensory Processing Disorder Explained | SPD Foundation
The one therapy that helped me the most was Integrated Listening Systems (iLs). the web page for this is Multi-sensory Therapy for Autism, LD, ADHD and SPD - (iLs)
it seems goofy, but listening to the special music and doing the exercises helped me a lot.
Please let me know if you'd like any more details about this

(ugh. why does this sound so familiar (?) Someone who says they want to help. Then they leave.... Not specifically for ASD)

I would also recommend neurofeedback. It's costly but very helpful.
