Hello. I wonder what's your opinion on the theory that autism is somehow linked to male hormones excess (particularly, during fetal state).

Molecular Psychiatry - Elevated fetal steroidogenic activity in autism

Interesting what exactly is the link between autistic traits and endocrine disorders. Do you suffer from any?

For example, I've been struggling with several unrecognized autistic symptoms throughout my life and I wonder it there is a connection between this and the fact that I was born without a half of my thyroid (which was recognized only twelve years later) and with congenital adrenal hyperplasia (I'm a woman, 21 yrs old) which means that the levels of such hormones as testosterone, androstenedione are unnaturally high in my bloodstream (also progesterone and prolactin) and I'm generally virilized and reached puberty very early aaand there were some gender identity issues going on because of this. The effects of such situation on a brain development are unquestionable and few psychologists said there's a high possibility of correlation. It's a huge puzzle for me, because I always want to have things clear and be like 100% sure.
