I am not sure how to remedy this problem where I cannot tell if someone is telling me something seriously or a joke/in jest. Both orally and in message, i.e. like in text messages or WhatsApp/Facebook/Telegram messages on the mobile.

I often ask my mother to try to decipher, but she has Asperger's as well, albeit not as bad in terms of mindblindness. So in other words, it is kind of like someone who were blind in one eye trying to help someone who is blind in both eyes.

I keep misinterpreting things to the point that people get embarrassed or feel bad that I get offended by their jokes, when I thought that they were telling me something bad in reality.

Unless the display of emotion is big, or it is someone I really know... then I have noooo idea. Sometimes I can hear it in their voice, so it's not like all paths to my brain are locked. But for ppl to make me understand, I wish they used words. I always understand words.

Sometimes I get confused with sarcasm, I mean is the person serious or being sarcastic. Feel like I can most often get when they are being sarcastic, but not always. Reminds me of a cool tv show I watched on Netflix a few years ago where PhD guy had his own business with a few employees and they read nonverbal signs from people involved in crimes, fraud, etc.
