Hello, my name is Mikaela. I have been on these forums ever since I was 15 under a different username. I'm a long time repeated major trauma survivor and over time many people have misdiagnosed me with other disorders. It took two professionals to see that I was Autistic. My mother has always speculated, and my year younger brother has high functioning Autism and was diagnosed at age 3. I am very new to the community. My main obsession right now are streetfighter video games, the paranormal, and anything science based. By the way I'm obsessed with Vega, he is my favorite character.

Dear BubonicPlague,
Welcome back to the Forums. It is very nice to meet you. I am so sorry that you suffered major trauma. That is is really heartbreaking. I don't know much about Autism so I will be interested in reading your posts. I wish you only the very best. Sincerely yours, Yao Wen |

I was diagnosed at age 14 or 15 but it wasn’t put on paper until I was in my 20’s. My mom -also speculated that I had it. I had a lot of the classic signs when I was a little kid. I was non verbal until I was 4. I had sensory issues. I hated tags and I had to wear certain socks. I carried around my blanket until I was 12. I was briefly misdiagnosed when I was 17 but then correctly rediagnosed when I was 18. My older brother has moderate autism and my mom thinks my dad had it as well.
I also love the supernatural. That and books on folklore have been my thing since I was 11. I’ve recently gotten involved in books on economics and sociology. __________________ Ridin' with Biden |

I got diagnosed at 34. The diagnosis profoundly changed my life. Suddenly my experiences had an explanation. It was very validating.
There have been so many times in my life where people have noticed something wasn't quite right with me. The first time was when I was about 2 years old. It was thought I had some kind of developmental delay and hearing impairment. Teachers also noticed and many of the psychiatrists I interacted with during my adolescence. Back then ASD was unheard of so I got a diagnosis of personality disorder and schizoaffective disorder. __________________ Dx: Didgee Disorder |
