Drs and therapists don't want to talk about autism. A Dr at Johns Hopkins in 2017 told me I have asbergers and no one since then wants to talk about it! I told my Dr last week and all he said was "Yeah, you should follow up with a neurologist". How do I get tested?

Hi there cool,
I responded to your other post and am just seeing this one now.
If your doc suggested following-up with a neurologist, then that's what you should look into doing, no?
Could your doc refer you to a neurologist, then?

You have to be proactive and not let them ignore you on this. Kindly insist on a referral to a neuro-psychologist in particular.

Psychiatrist or psychologist (the one with PhD) would diagnose ASD in adults. In my experience adults seeking ASD diagnosis do not need to see a neurologist.

Ask your doctor to refer you to a psychiatrist. Or it depends on your insurance make an appointment yourself or see if you can get access to clinical psychologist. If you could find one, then it would work too.

Asperger’s isn’t a valid diagnosis anymore. It’s weird doctor would tell you that in 2017. It hasn’t been a diagnosis then. It’s all Autism Spectrum Disorder. What was called Asperger is a mild ASD, that’s why it’s a spectrum.

Did that doctor formally diagnosed you or just suggested it? You could try to locate those records or go see those specialists I mentioned above

He was a resident at Johns Hopkins. The residents do all of the work there. He didn't even tell me how to get treatment or explain his mind.

Asperger syndrome (Asperger’s)

The above article explains the controversy about Asperger’s and why some professionals won’t use the term anymore.

You’d need to ask for a referral for an assessment, if you are struggling to get one you could try contacting any of the charities that specialise in autism for advice.
