US disability-rights group specifically focused on autism. (Asperger's counts since it's a subtype.)

The Asperger's Survival Guide
Informative guide written by an AS man about how to navigate the social world.

Aspies For Freedom
Forum for people with various kinds of autism; started out with Asperger's but has a fuller spectrum nowadays. Tends to be fairly militant autism-rights, but generally supportive.

Autreat
Yearly gathering for autistic people; works like a convention.

The Therapy Shoppe
While it's generally kid-focused, you'll find a lot of useful stim toys and other sensory gadgets here.

This Way of Life
Autism advocacy site with a bit of everything. Especially recommended are the sections under "Autistic Differences" and "Help for Autistics". Executive dysfunction, for example, can be quite a troublesome problem, and one not usually addressed by standard therapy.

Autism Information Library and autistics.org
A collection of articles, generally by autistic people, about life with autism, advocacy, their experiences, and more than a few full-on rants. The main autistics.org site also contains some useful resources.

Neurodiversity.com
Another information library. Links to a lot of scientific stuff, and a lot of explanation of the concept of "neurodiversity" (i.e., the concept of a society that includes and accepts people with all sorts of brains, including autism). Very big on debunking the vaccine/autism myth.

Ballastexistenz
Blog by an autistic woman who's considered a leader in the autism rights movement. Tends to write a lot about disability rights, random daily stuff, and cats.

I absolutely this one It's put tons of words and thoughts to things i didn't even know were related to my aspergers. It talks about the role of anxiety depression self injury and tourettes in aspies. It just puts a bunch of thing in an aspie perspective and explains their role. It uses tons of real testimony from other aspies. I hope you all take the time to check it out.

Excellent book for children and adults and partners/family trying to understand AS......

"The Complete Guide to Aspergers Syndrome" by Professor Tony Attwood.

He does a lot of work with the clinic I attend (Minds and Hearts Clinic for AS and Autism) and I have heard him speak at our women with AS group. Lovely man and incredibly knowledgeable. He has given speeches and conferences all over the world.

I discovered two books which are brilliant if you or someone in your family has just had a diagnosis: 'Asperger's Syndrome: The Essential Guide' and 'Autism: A Parent's Guide', both by HIlary Hawkes. They're both on Amazon.
The person who wrote them also writes kids books and has a website which has a collecton of books aimed at kids who have disabilities/asperger's etc. There are online games and fun stuff aswell as the books. My youngest son, who as AS, loved the one called 'Jay in The Journey' - about a boy who has AS. The site is at www.hilaryhawkes.co.uk/strawberryjam books . Or just google the author's name. Def worth looking at.

Everyday Asperger's | Life through the eyes of a female with Aspergers
This is from a mother with Aspergers. Her son has it as well. It is a blog for Aspie girls from an Aspie girl. I love it! It's helped so much-she has a lot of information on there for the girls themselves, parents, friends and partners!

Adventures in Autism: A Late Diagnosis Story

People appear to have been enjoying it. So I want to try to reach others. I do speak about personal experiences but I also post about those of other individuals as well as studies and news articles, etc. I'm always open to suggestions on what I should write about so if there's something you'd like to read, let me know.

Despite being autistic all my life, I only found out about it last year. Beforehand I thought I was insane. Stumbly steps on the road to self-discovery as well as passing on information to others.

And attempts at humour.

I was professionally diagnosed using the DSM-IV. If it had been the DSM-5 then I'd simply be considered high-functioning autistic while the ICD-10 would still label me with Asperger's Syndrome (I believe). It's a mess, that's what it is! Either way, I still am an advocate for sensible and researched self-diagnosis because of the price tag in places like the United States, as well as a few other issues. This means you needn't worry about me being a little dictator on the matter. All are welcome. ^_^

Thank you, its on the shelf at the library so I will check it out tomorrow. My partner had aspergers as a child and it looks like he has it again as an adult.
