I'm shocked to see only two stories on here, so I thought I'd share mine. My biological father is a genius (literally, he's in MENSA), high-ranking military computer security guy, musician (I'm pretty sure he was in a long-hair rock band in his heyday), former athlete, avid collector of pretty much everything interesting (he owns 300+ guitars last I checked) and all around cool dude. He also has Asperger's. He was diagnosed a little later in life but always knew he was a little different from his peers. We don't always get along (our personality types clash horribly at times), but he's helped me through a lot, including through my personal struggle with OCD. I can't brag about him much in real life (family circumstances prevent me from mentioning his existence for the most part), so I thought I'd take the opportunity to yell about how cool he is here. He's one of the most successful people I know, AND he happens to be on the spectrum.

Great thread, post & topic, Eevee. My father is awesome, too...Probably the most widely read person I know. He can fix anything without the help of anyone. I wish I'd been born with that capability. He's also witty as heck! That said, we butted heads when I was younger. I'm now 53 & my father is 73...so I hope I have many more years to enjoy him. I find that the older I get, the more I appreciate my parents. It's strange how that works.

I love my dad too. He has so much power to make this world a better place with his wise words. I don´t know if he knows it himself, sometimes I tell him how great he his.

Your post bought a tear to my eye. What wonderful things you say about your father. I am so glad that you have such a great relationship with him and that you sound very proud of him.
Pleased for you both. Soup
