I have been diagnosed with Social Anxiety by several different Doctors. However the more and more I read about Avoidant Personality Disorder, the more it seems to fit.
Can you have both Social Anxiety and APD? What are the main differences between the two? Oh boy >_<

Thank you very much for the reply. I have not been diagnosed with both. I have not seen a doctor in a very long time. I have only professionally been diagnosed with Panic Disorder, Social Anxiety Disorder, and Agoraphobia. It fits me perfectly though.. ><

Maybe I should seek a professional to see if it is just another thing to add to my list of unpleasant characteristics? But then again I don't see any real point in having it confirmed. It wont change who I am. I was more or less just curious about the possibility...

Thank you again for taking the time to reply.

Honestly, being diagnosed with a personality disorder is not something anybody wants, let alone any kind of mental illness. It's on your medical record and you are forever judged badly by mental health and health professionals because you get diagnosed with a PD.

I think if you can get treatment for the current symptoms you have with the current diagnosed disorders, then it may help you.
Diagnosis isn't important anymore, what's more important is treating the symptoms.

I have been diagnosed with both, and PTSD. I agree with Girl Interrupted as well, but I do understand wanting to put a name on something that's bothering you so much.
Thanks for this!
