Can you scare away people with avpd by asking too many questions about them, or by paying too much attention to them?

It can be scary if someone is TOO interested and asks too many questions because it makes me question what this person's ulterior motive is for all the questions. Then I assume they want something from me. Then I get freaked that they'll infringe on my personal time and become a burden. Or I just feel bad for this person asking all the questions because they are having to do this in order to get responses from me and this is a burden for them.

I think what make it scary its people ask so many question its because people with AvPD constantly worried they might say something wrong and its gonna embarrassed them but usually after a while if they are feeling that you might like them they wont think its scary but yet they still very careful about it.. well thats me Iam AvPD so i only can speak for me

I have AvPD and I like it when other people do the talking because I am not stuck for words. I am not comfortable leading conversation. I never know what to say or what I should or should not ask people and usually end up just telling myself to mind my own business. If somebody else initiates, I don't mind so much because it helps direct the conversation.
Usually, I am more comfortable discussing things less personal such as issues, news, history, interests. However, if people start to ask my personal opinions or feelings, I tend to become more conservative or "politically correct" to avoid hurting anybody or saying the wrong thing. It is not the talking, it is the personalization of topic that makes me nervous. |
