I feel like this has been posted before, but I can't find it.

Is there anyone on here who has been diagnosed with both Borderline Personality Disorder and AvPD, or who knows the differences (I mean knows the differences) between the two? I know what AvPD is, and I know how it is not BPD, but I don't know if what I'm experiencing is just part of my BPD or something else altogether.

Thanks for your input.

Hi. misskeena. I don't know if you were able to find an answer to your question. I'm a little confused about the differences between the two myself, so I can't really give a good answer. My official Dx (besides the MDD and anxiety), is "personality disorder, NOS," but I have been told that I seem to have signs of both BPD and AvPD. (Also dependent personality disorder)Hope you can find an answer.

I think the main difference might be in th BPD's tendency toward fear of abandonment/clingyness. From what I've read about AvP DO, the tendency is to avoid not cling to.

That's what I thought... I tend to do both. Cling and avoid.
