I'm wondering if you ever use some kind of drugs, including the alcohol to cope with difficult social interactions.
I have just recalled one New Year's Eve party. I was in a place called Cuban córner. I was invited by my favourite uncle. I was a bit pissed and I was in a sticky situation. My uncle introduced me a guy, wow, very handsome. He was from Canadá. He was sitting alone and I approched him to talk. Well, ok, to flirt. This was the first time I approched to a man. When I was just about sitting down next to him, a woman arrived. She was his wife. I didn't know where to hide myself. Regarding to the topic, I usually drink a couple of cups of red wine or beers. It helped me to be moré sociable. The key is to not drink too much or you will look a phathetic creature. What about you? |

I don't drink,(fitness freak) but its important that I have a (non alcoholic) drink in my hand, and/or if i can be seated "near" a conversation so I fit in without needing to participate.

Yep, I definitely do use alcohol as a confidence booster. Of course, when I'm exceptionally nervous I then end up way too drunk... because I tend to just take a sip everytime I feel nervous, and will absolutely not have zero drink in hand.. and yet if I got something non-alcoholic that would get called into question.... so yeah.
Usually it's good though. __________________ "The time has come, the Walrus said, to talk of many things. Of shoes, of ships, of sealing wax, of cabbages, of kings! Of course the fun part is when the drink runs out and you need to find a replacement

Oh... nope, doesn't happen. I know my limits, so if I'm at a house party I will have enough around and then some extras to share or whatnot.

I use both valium and alcohol. Valium is always with me when I have to be around people. Alcohol I add usually in more stressful situations I dont run into on a daily basis

I'm sometimes lucky to have a prescription for valium when I have a neck inflammation. It calms my anxiety but it is terrible addictive.

Smoking cigarettes helped me with my inhibitions. It made it easier to be in a small group of people. When I'm around people it's easier if I'm occupied. It's also easier if I feel like I have a purpose for being there, taking a cigarette break worked for me. It also allowed me to sit and listen without feeling like I was eavesdropping. I feel like I'm eavesdropping often since I'm rarely talking.

I used to drink alot to deal with the isolation and loneliness but over time it made things worse. Now I just smoke pot once in awhile, the after effects make me more calm and it's easier to socialize. Of course self medicating is not the correct way to deal with anxiety as it just becomes a crutch, it's better to find a way to deal with it through therapy or other self help.

I use alcohol pretty often. I try to keep it to just getting tipsy but sometimes it's not good enough and I drink too much.
