I'd like to honour these little hairy balls with this thread and mainly, I'd like to encourage you to put a dog in your life.
My heart breaks each time I have a new about a dog that is abandomed or mistreated. For example, some days ago, in my own city, a doggie was put into a rubbish container. Luckily, someone heard and rescued him. The doggie was about to die but I'm sure that with cares, he will go through it. Some years ago, I began a progressive social exposure therapy. As I always felt comfortable with dogs and I love them, my first step to overcome wasn't greeting people but greeting dogs. Then, I had to stablish a conversation with the owners. Two years later, I owned my first doggie. She meant not only affection but only a kind of therapy. I wasn't sure to be able to manage my own dog but she learnt me to have confidence. She makes me go out of home, she makes me meet new people or simply talk to other doggies owners. Then, I decided to adopt a new dog and the benefits grow up. They are my best friends. Put a dog in your life. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I've always been more of a cat person. My childhood cat kept me alive basically.
I've currently got a cat who is by far the most unique critter I've ever met. Doesn't help that he had to have his ears and tail amputated (was found frozen...). But he is by far the cuddliest cat ever and is quite chatty. A lot of my friends are dog-people and they have all said that he is the ONLY cat they've ever liked! haha.

I absolutelly like cats as well. I was wondering whether having a cat or a dog. I decided having a dog for this that they make you go out of home, but I believe you when you say that your cat is marvellous.

Yeah, although I like dogs I'm not particularly keen on ever owning one for various reasons - one, I hate the idea of picking up dog poop, two I live somewhere that has very long cold winters, and three I like to travel and I don't think it would be very fair to a dog to have to get babysat a lot. My cat it's a lot easier to just drop him off with someone - he adapts well.

Corgis are amazing. My little dog is a corgi mix. She's definitely been a positive thing in my life. I'm so isolated sometimes, that if it weren't for my pets, I don't know what I'd do.
Animals, in general, are good at making people who love them feel better. They are, often, used as support animals, and for a very good reason. My dog and my bunny in particular can lift my spirits. It's often only for fleeting moments, but just stroking their fur can make me feel better. I, too, get sad when I think of animals who have been mistreated. Dogs who've been stuck outside on a short chain... cats who've been abandoned... bunnies in tiny cages that not even a hamster should be in. It's sad how so many people abuse their trust. Animals, I think, are one of the few innocent things left on this planet.
