Six seconds at least, a hug should last to has a therapeutical effect on you.
Am I the only person here who get upset when someone give me a hug? I would really like to go here and there giving hugs but it's something I find very hard and I feel very uncomfortable when someone gives or pretend to give me a hug. Perhaps, it's bc my mother express her affection mainly verbally and I learnt to do it exactilly in the same way. My kids give me hugs very often and I think I'm getting used to it but I still feel quite uncomfortable and try that the hug last as less as possible. __________________ Social Anxiety and Depression. Uncomfortable? Hmm, not usually, I like hugs!
But six seconds sounds like a long time, it might get uncomfortable then! |

Six, at least, Break.
I have a coworker whose way of smile and say good morning to you, absolutely changed your low mood. She is that kind of person who recives you with a hug. The first time she hugged me, I thought: what's the matter with her? What does she want? I have a kid who is always hugging me before I start the lesson. She doesn't care if I am getting ready the cd player or the drawings. I have her "hanged" on my back while I'm taking out my stuff. She's the most adorable girl but I can't avoid feeling uncomfortable. I feel like if I was force to correspond and I couldn't. But, as I said bf my kids are helping me to desensitizing me. __________________ Social Anxiety and Depression. Cluster C traits. Trying to improve my English. I like hugs too. I'm kind of uncomfortable initiating them though- not knowing if they will be welcome. Six seconds does seem like a long time.
I will hug you Azul and BreakForTheLight but only for a second |

The hugs I'm talking about has nothing to do with sexual field. It has to be with interchanging energies: a brotherhood bug.
I'm interesting to know how was the way to show affection your parents had. If you want to reply. As we are now four in this thread, I'm wondering why we don't give us a group hug, instead. __________________ Social Anxiety and Depression. Cluster C traits. Trying to improve my English. Six second hug with just a friend.
I'll give you a scenario... Az, you're hugging your friends husband for 6 seconds. a) what will the wife think? b) what will the husband think? c) and how would you feel after he has long stopped hugging you and you're still holding him for the full 6 seconds? Next scenario. You hug just a friend for 6 seconds. d) dont you think he will question your feelings for him? What about if youre hugging an Avie. e) How would he/she feel being held for this long? ...unless 6 seconds in Spain is equavilant to 3 seconds every where else __________________ Diagnosed: AvPD. It’s never alright. It comes and it goes. It’s always around, even when it don’t show. They say it gets better. well I guess that it might. But even when it’s better, it’s never alright. |

I agree with you. Six seconds is a world. Three seconds, as well.
But, appart from the how long, there is something else to consider the how and the context. Someone gave me a hug. I was uncomfortable but he only transmited me good energy. It was a thank hug bc I take my time to help him. When someone has a problem I think about giving him or her a hug but what if I make them uncomfortable. Perhaps, i'm wrong but I think Catholics moral made a lot of damage and it snatched what is in human nature. Sorry if that sounds rude to people who are catholics. I'm sure there is a positive part in this belief but it's my opinion. __________________ Social Anxiety and Depression. Cluster C traits. Trying to improve my English. I have a feeling a virtual hug is not going to have quite the same therapeutic effect though
There's also articles saying you need 8 hugs a day. Are we supposed to just hug random strangers or are there actually people who have enough loved ones close to them to get 8 hugs a day? |

I don't think that many people are hugged 8 a day.

I wonder if I sleep all day because I am hug deficient... curl up in a ball and let my bed hug me all day.

Hey, the link to the social group! Fine!
I'm gonna be honest with you. I hugged a tree and I didn't feel anything. But, I just said that I'm not very spiritual although envy the ones who are. I used to hug my doggie Miky when I feel bad and it feels really good. __________________ Social Anxiety and Depression. Cluster C traits. Trying to improve my English.
