I am being driven absolutely insane by my downstairs neighbour(s) listening to music at a ridiculously loud volume. My floor is vibrating. I'm watching a movie with ear buds in and I can still hear their music. It's giving me a headache and making me SO angry! I really don't understand how people can be so inconsiderate, you live in a flat, this is NOT an acceptable volume! Go to a friggin' club if you want to hear music this loud.
But I don't want to go over there, they might get annoyed with me! And that can't happen. I'd be ashamed if I ever ran into them on the stairs. So I'll just keep getting more and more annoyed myself and hoping that it stops soon. Gah, I wish I could just go over and not care what they would think of me. (Or that one of their other neighbours would go and tell them they're being assholes. They have neighbours on four sides - why is no one else bothered by this?) I know it's not healthy what I'm doing. The anger is boiling inside of me. But it's not enough to help me get over the fear and just tell them to turn it down |

I am sorry you are suffering from noise abuse. One couple who took things into their own hands were
Possible trigger:
Why not tell the landlord anonymously. Send them a typewritten note and do not put your name on it. If nothing changes then maybe there is a neighborhood watch group that can help. Or maybe it is just time to find another place. Ask the landlord if they have any other units comparatively priced elsewhere. __________________ Super Moderator Community Support Team "Things Take Time" |

@CANDC: In a village, in Italy, it also happened. Not sure if you are reffering to this case. It's not the most assertive way to act. Right?
@ Break: I'm like you. It's not only an avoidant thing though. What did your other neighbours do? Nothing. People don't want to get into troubles. This is what I would do. If it's a punctual thing, i wouldn't bother. Any neighbour can make the fool on one thing or another in a moment. But, if it is something they do in several occasions, I would talk to the president in the more assertive way I could. Never, never ever do what the Italian couple did. __________________ Social Anxiety and Depression. Cluster C traits. Trying to improve my English. My apologies for errors and mistakes in advance. Unfortunately it is a regular occurrence. And also very often at quiet times (after 10 pm).
I'm not scared of them getting aggressive or anything. I had to pick up a parcel from there once and the guy seemed nice enough. For the record, of course I would never go over and tell them they're assholes, I would be more calm and polite I just don't want to be a nuisance - and yes, I realise how stupid that is when they are the ones being a pain in the *** and breaking the rules! I have thought about contacting the landlord but I feel that would be too drastic and I should just try to talk to them first - if only I was brave enough!! It's going on again now. last night the music was still loud at 1:30 am. There was one time when I got really pissed off at their music still playing around 3 am and I banged on the floor with a curtain rod a few times. It stopped after that but I don't want to do that every time I love my apartment except the downstairs neighbours, I don't want to move!! I used to try fighting fire with fire, loud music with other loud music with my parents' neighbours haba but I don't have any speakers here, and it's most annoying at night when I'm in bed, not really a good time to leave |

Put an anonymous note through your neighbour's door. You know you don't have to write it with your writing, you can write it in capital letters ot cut the letters out from a magazine or a newspaper. I'm not kidding. Ok. I'm serious.
However, they could think it's you and think that you don't dare to talk to them. This is worse. My neighbour usually takes his broom and hits my ceiling. This is something annoys me a lot bc he and her wife are so strict with others' noises. They never hear their own noises. If it's something your neigbour does regularly, the best is telling to him in the first choice. You know how to tell things. You tell them to me and I never get angry with you. On the contrary. __________________ Social Anxiety and Depression. Cluster C traits. Trying to improve my English. My apologies for errors and mistakes in advance. You have my complete sympathy this would put me in a rage.
Break one thing for sure- if you do go talk to them, especially since it is safe & they won't get aggressive, you will be a hero to all of us. Come back and tell us how it went and we will support you and be inspired by you. |

Well, my sweetie, go there and tell them to turn the music down. You will be our inspiration. You know how to say things. Come on. We are with you. Assertiveness. You know how to say things. Don't be angry at them. They surely don't notice that they are disturbing someone. They are young. __________________ Social Anxiety and Depression. Cluster C traits. Trying to improve my English. Sorry, I'm no inspiration!
Seriously way too easy to avoid going over in the middle of the night! I mean I don't want to get dressed and put in my contacts again just to tell the stupid neighbours to turn the music down. (There is no way I'm going over in my PJ's and I'm practically blind without contacts). But there is no way they don't realise they're disturbing anyone. The walls are extremely thin, they must know this, they've been living here for a while. I am thinking about ocmplaining to the landlord now. Especially if they do it again tonight. It might be a Friday but I'm working tomorrow |

You can also be an inspiration another day, when you have changed your pyjamas for a dress. No problem.
