I was reading about how to work in a therapy in a more effective way so I read how important is to identify childhood defence mechanisms that lead you to behave in a wrong way and bla bla bla...
Not many to say about it. Many years if therapy, I talked about my childhood to therapists. Many of them, told me: forget about it and focuss on the present. I'm a bit blind in this respect so I'm reading about it and came across to this article about defence mechanism. I hope anyone who is as miss as me :-) find it useful. Thank you for the article. It is rather lengthy and I have a short attention span and will have to read it in short spurts, but it sounds very interesting.
Defence mechanisms are definitely a problem with communication, especially if you don't know you are using them. I was thinking about the part about hiding behind humor. I know people who do that. Anyway, I look forward to reading the rest of it. __________________ Bipolar I, Depression, GAD Meds: Zoloft, Zyprexa, Ritalin "Each morning we are born again. You are welcome! It's not only this article the one I found interesting but also, the page itself. It provides you with lots of background about how to face to therapy and take advantages of it.
The humor thing also surprised me. I think in humor there is a lot of truth but this truth is taken it in a healthy way, a kind of sublimation. This is what comics do, don't they. Tell the truth in a way that everyone can understand and don't hurt others. |
