Anyone else here have trouble spending time with friends? I don't want to plan to be with them, I hope they cancel when the date nears, but then I enjoy the time with them. Makes no sense.

I only have 2 friends, but I value their friendships.

I'm confused.

Me too. Spending time with people, even when they are friends is exhausting for me. The anxiety, the monitoring thing...being always trying to avoid messing up. It's hard.

The only thing I can tell you is that you won't die if you plan doing things with them and there are many posibilities that you enjoyed the time. Sorry, I can't be of much help.

I know it's simplistic. Only a person who suffers anxiety and feels always inferior can know how it feels. But if you never dare to risk you won't never win.

My social life is pretty reduced but I know I have to keep a grade of socialization to mantain my health.

I have trouble with plans. I always feel like they're just going along with a plan if I initiate due to feeling obligated. Then I want to cancel, but I can't because I made the plans. But then I worry that it'll be disasterous. If I do cancel then I worry about being a flake and that they'll never agree to spend time with me again.

If they make the plan and I agree then I feel like I absolutely have to or they'll never invite me again -I also say yes even when I know I don't actually want to. If I cancel then I worry that they will be angry (I find it's easier to cancel if it's a group thing.)

I usually have a good time once I'm out - especially if it's 1:1. Most of the time people who have gotten to know me somewhat, well, they can often figure out it's best to invite me at the last minute - I'm more likely to go "Ok I'll get ready now" and don't have the time to worry too much and cancel. lol.
